Bayern Munich Set To Offer Joshua Kimmich A New Deal
Bayern Munich want to hand Joshua Kimmich a new contract amid interest from Barcelona and Manchester City, reports Sport Bild.
The 22-year-old right-back has become a key player at the Allianz Arena and he is attracting interest from the current La Liga and Premier League leaders.
Kimmich’s current deal expires in 2020 and Joshua Bayern want to extend it by a further three years and increase his salary in order to ward off interest from his suitors.
Kimmich’s agent Uli Ferber also confirmed the news about the contract talks to SportBild.
“In the summer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge came to us for the first time as to whether we could imagine expanding the cooperation.
“We got together for the first time in autumn and want to hold another round of talks by the end of the year. “
Kimmich joined Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig in 2015. The young German has played in many different positions in his short career at Bayern.
He grabbed headlines in his first season for doing well in a central defensive role despite his relatively small stature
Joshua Kimmich said this week: “It was an incredible experience. He is also very detail-orientated, very creative and puts big demands on his players.
“What he knew about the opposition and the way he practised formations was impressive. My team-mates were always exactly where Pep Guardiola had prophesised.
“Since my Bayern contract runs until 2020, I don’t have to worry. When it comes to changing clubs, there are always two scenarios: either the club wouldn’t want me anymore, or I’d want to trying something new and gain a new experience.
“But, as I said, that’s not currently an issue for me.”
