No More Spacey! House Of Cards Writing Frank Underwood Out Of Season 6

House of Cards

The fate of Netflix’s hit Political show, House Of Cards has been in limbo ever since it was announced earlier this month that the show’s lead actor, Kevin Spacey who plays Frank Underwood, had been fired.

With multiple sexual assault accusations piling up against Spacey, Netflix decided to drop the actor who had been playing the lead role on the show for the first five seasons.

This move has left the show’s producers and writers in a tight spot as they need to find a way to end the series without their lead character.

According to a report from CNN, showrunners Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese are now “racing against the clock” to rewrite the whole season, without Frank Underwood.

Here’s an excerpt from this new report from CNN.
“In a typical writers room, the showrunners would be tasked with arcing out the season, with help and ideas from the rest of the writers. Different writers are then assigned individual episodes, which are workshopped as a group. The showrunners have final say on the direction and pacing of the season and episodes. The decision on whether to proceed with House of Cards Season 6 after writers find a new direction will rest with Netflix and producer Media Rights Capital, both of which declined to comment for this story.”
If the show is taken in this direction, it would mean that Robin Wright who play’s Frank’s wife ‘Claire Underwood’ would play a more important part in the show.

Originally set to kick off in May 2018, the sixth season of the show may now be delayed as the team attempts to rewrite all thirteen episodes.
